Disney Visit

This is Sean. He took us to Disney World. For those paying attention, doing things like this for us seems to be the correct way to act. Take note. He's a Filipino-viking.

Basically while poor Brooks and Tyson slaved away all day in a blisteringly hot recording studio, me and Phil and our friend Kyle went and had a great day off. This is what Kyle and Phil look like to babies. Tall and creepy with a giant silver thing behind them.

This is a picture of Phil looking creepy as he waits to ride Pirates. We really didn't spend that much time in the parks because we kept going from place to place. We went to three parks in just a few hours.

Ok, I noticed there are two things that people take pictures of in Disney World. They either take a picture of them waving in front of a castle, or they take a picture of someone wearing stupid hats like we did. A note to NASA who made these things. These helmets look good but would be terrible for actual space travel as they are made of fabric. Idiots. This is the crap that all my tax dollars are going to. Or at least they would be, if I payed taxes.

Phil and Kyle wore these around for a while to make sure Sean felt at home. There aren't many Filipino-vikings in Orange County and sometimes life can get a bit sad for him without any Filipino-vikings (or Villipinos) his age to hang out with.

If you look closely you can see that I'm down to my last piece of facial hair. It's an old favorite called the "Soul Patch," not to be confused with "Soul Plane," which was a movie about planes and Snoop Dog or something and totally different. I kept thinking girls were smiling at me all day but then I realized after each one passed me that they probably just laughing at my sweet new S. Patch.

"I wish I could grow a beard!," says Phil, as he jumps in front of a cannon. Actually I have no idea what he was saying and I just remembered as I was writing this that I actually have at least two more pictures in different places in the States of Phil in front of some sort of cannon. I gotta think about that for a bit.

Anyway, thanks Sean! Hope you had as good of a time as we did. I'm kidding, of course you had a great time, you were with us. Hey, aren't we making a record? Oh yeah. More on that tomorrow.

Bass Finished = Long Day = Crappy Blogging

"What's this a picture of," you ask? Well I'm glad you asked. "It couldn't be just a picture of a door," you say. Well, I'm saying it could be, and it is. It's just a door. I looked through my camera tonight and this was the only good picture on it from today and it's not even good. I can't even remember if I took it. It does have a strange blue light coming from somewhere though. Ohhhhh call X-files.

I probably should say that this is a picture of me feeling bad for not blogging better, but I can't lie, it's just a picture of me that Phil took a few days ago. The good news is I finished my bass parts for the album today! Boo ya! Many thanks to Chris who worked 13 hours in a row today and made me sound like I know what I'm doing.

In other news, Tyson vanished again. We think he went to Tampa. This is a picture of him doing what he was last seen doing, playing Warcraft. This is also probably what he is doing where he ran off to, so he should be easy to spot. Look for a place with power, a wi-fi connection and a coffee pot. Come home soon Tyson!

Also, this is a picture of J.P. Wisner, the fellow is who making our record. Come to think of it, I haven't seen him lately either. If you see him wandering around, please send him back to the studio, I need him to listen to this last take.

So Zach, you just recorded the bass parts of one of the most important records of the 21st century, how does it feel?

Oh it feels great, thanks.

Well, what are you planning on doing next?

I'm planning to go to Disney World with Phil.

Yeah, that's what's happening. See you guys tomorrow.

Brooks Covers Bass Days while Zach Takes the Day Off to Work

Today was a very special day, we entered the next phase of our little project here in sunny florida. No, we arent making a nuclear bomb, but you see its a record we are creating this month.

Zach started laying down some really low frequencies today, thats bass for the lamens. Along with Phils drums, it sounds incredible! We are considering kicking Tyson out of the band and just doing the drum/bass/dork thing on the road, Im not sure what role I would be playing in that one.

Tyson was steady warcrafting all day, with the occasional break to eat or bother me.

You may also notice that zach is working on his pirate's gotee, along with chris' soul patch.......this is a record full of facial hair masterpieces.
One of the studio cats attacked me today, I think she thought I had a hedgehog on my face. She was probably just trying to do me a favor.

Speaking of.... Thank you everyone who has rooted me on in my pursuit of the perfect beard. Its not been easy, but with the support of friends like you, I could go all the way.

And for those that don't like it and think I look like Charlie Manson, Im sorry.

Facial Hair Troubles

Surprisingly, after the grief I gave brooks for his beard, I accidentally grew a miniature one for myself. Even though it looks quite awesome, I have decided to shave it out of principle. Details on that to come tomorrow.

As far as the album goes, Phil finished his drum tracks today and can finally rest. He plans to sleep through tomorrow entirely and then start on the Karate classes that he's always wanted to take but never had the time for.
Good luck Phil! And remember, "If do right, no can defense."

Phil still drumming, Brooks still playing baseball

If you look closely behind Brooks' Beardy face you'll see that he's just beaten the world record for RBI Baseball with 37 runs. The dude is happy. Way happy. We forgot Phil was playing drums in the other room for a few hours. This is how cool this was.

I'm kidding. Nobody cares.
As talented as Phil is, I got to tired of hearing drums I had to take off for a bit and go hang out with these pirate things for a bit.

Our friend Kyle came down to help in the studio for a while, but as you can see, all he's doing right now is helping this pirate skull look through a telescope which really doesn't help anybody.

I picked him up from a train station where he had waited for me to arrive for about two hours. I don't feel so bad because he had already waited on a train all night long so a little more waiting couldn't hurt. By the way, that's not a fake hook. It was just a rough train ride.

Guest Comentary by Matt Davis of Showbread

hello everyone. my name's matt and i play guitar in a
band called showbread. as many of you know we like
these sullivan guys alot and i personally have been
talking with brooks almost everyday about the making
of the new record and the new songs. honestly he runs
every idea he has by me and i either approve the song
for the record or tell him to head back to the drawing
board and start over if the song sucks. nothing goes
on that record without my permission. so today phil is
tracking drums. me and phil are pretty down. in fact
we have plans to someday have a place together with 2
recliners and a big tv to play video games and watch
shows like lost and arrested development...but the
cool thing is that the chairs will be on tracks so we
can move the chairs out to the porch and like fish off
the porch or something. but the best part is is that
the place will be full stocked with little debi's and
dr pepper. sounds neat huh? oh yeah..the record..so
phil's tracking drums currently. he's a good
drummer...no..i dare say a great drummer. hits em real
hard and looks gooood doing it. poor guy..he'd
probably have a gnarly beard right now too but chances
are he just has a nast crustache..but thats ok. he has
great hair. so once phil's done the bass will be laid
down..then probably guitars and vocals...blah blah
blah...but i must say...i'm very excited about the
direction of this sullivan record. i've heard a few
snippets of ideas and it's gonna be a great record. a
couple of suggestions to the sullivans....brooks...rbi
baseball rules...but mike tysons punch out is
better....tyson.....well..i cant suggest anything to
tyson. he's perfect. zach...go with the 125's. i love
sullivan. showbread loves sullivan. go buy their
record when it comes out. sullibread. zero seven. do
it.
matt

Matt Davis lives in Savannah Georgia and looks sort of like a much younger Peter Jackson. He enjoys listening to Johnny Cash and Queen and is not ashamed to admit he loves Avenged Sevenfold. When not growing his occasional beard, he plays guitar in the band Showbread. Check out their new record "The Age of Reptiles" in stores now on Tooth and Nail Records.

Drum Days = Boring for the Bassist

Phil was busy today working his drummer butt off. The drum tracks are sounding amazing too. We're all excited about them and I'm sure Phil is ready to get them all done. Drumming for 10 hours at a time isn't an easy job.

This is a bad picture of the drum tech, Rob. He has a horrible job because basically, he spends hours fixing something so that Phil can hit them hard with sticks and then he can come back and fix everything again. To Rob's extra special credit, he purchased the Vinnie "Pantera" Paul snare drum for the recording this morning. You go Rob!
Here is what Phil was doing when he wasn't playing drums. Notice the Isis hoodie becuase it's cold in the studio, the phone for texting, the iPod for listening to the songs we're doing and the Coke Zero that you can't see in his other hand. Throw some drumming in there and that was our whole day.
Actually, this also went on today. Brooks brought the Nintendo 8-bit with us to the studio for he own personal relaxation time. The only game he plays is R.B.I. Baseball from 1988. You guys should have seen him during the first week of writing. He sat in the same place on our living room floor for 7 days with a guitar, the internet, some Dr. Pepper and this game. Didn't move for a week. Amazing. Brooks did try and look bad for this picture and it worked.
Talent.

Talent.

See you guys tomorrow.

Monday, January 8, 2007

Hey guys, I've decided to include this poorly taken photograph to show three things:
  1. Tyson is finally in the studio.
  2. James Wisner is also in the studio.
  3. Brooks has his hair in a pony-tail.
Sadly:
  1. You can't see Tyson's face.
  2. You can't see Wisner's face.
  3. You can't see Brooks' pony-tail.
Honestly you're gonna just have to trust me on all of this.

This picture pretty much sums up the day. Today was the first day of drum tracking and many many hours were spent by the drum tech setting up the room and making everything sound awesome. Unfortunately, they found out that they don't have the right snare so nothing really got done today, which is why Phil isn't actually sitting at the drum set.

On a happier note. We met this kid at Wendy's today when he asked us if we were in the band Sullivan.I just happened to be reading out mail where he sent in a message saying that he met us today and this is his Myspace picture. I'm posting it because I'm pretty impressed he knew who we were considering we all have horrible looking beards now.

Wendy's has new value combos by the way. DO Wendy's new value combos.

TYSON MISSING! UPDATED!

A lot of people have been asking why Tyson has so far been absent from the pages of this blog. The truth is, we really don't know where he is right now. As many of you know, he's a difficult person to find sometimes. If you've ever gotten his autograph or a picture with him, put it in a special place, they are rare.

We aren't as good without him, so please do America a favor and look out for him. Please send messages or leave comments of any ideas or sightings. Come home soon Tyson!

Sullivan

*UPDATE*
Sunday 9:48pm- Looks like we are already getting some good info on where to find Tyson. Thanks for the leads and keep em coming. Hang in there Tyson!

*UPDATE*

Monday 9:33pm- Never mind, he was just waiting at the airport to get picked up. Sorry about that.

Guest Commentary by Nick Ghanbarian of Bayside

Week in review by Nicholas Ghanbarian

I've been trying to get this Obey hoodie for a month and its impossible.

The Rangers won 3 in a row.

Sullivan is in the studio making a baby. They will sell it in less time than the usual gestation period for a human.

If you are reading this you'll probably buy it, so the magical trick is to get people to read this who normally wouldn't read it.

Too bad magic doesn't exist.
These guys are screwed.
At least they are good.

Family guy is funny.

Check back soon for more updates.

Special correspondent Nicholas Ghanbarian lives in Lindenhurst NY and has a surname that is nearly impossible to spell. He's 5'9" and his refrigerator door doesn't close easily. When he's not writing about Sullivan, Ghanbarian plays bass with nearly 98% accuracy in the band Bayside. The band's new album "The Walking Wounded" comes out Febuary 6th, 2007 on Victory Records.

Our New Gold Record

Ok, so it isn't our gold record. It's Chris Carrabba's and James Wisner's but who cares. We're using it for now until we get our own. Here is a disappointing fact about gold records, you can't actually take them out and play them. It's not a real record. You would think that they could at the very least do that for you if you can sell a half a million records. On the bright side, a gold record is way more appealing than than a gold cassette tape.

Brooks has been reading all the messages asking him to shave his beard. Keep the Myspace messages, e-mails and comments coming because right now they are falling upon deaf ears. Brooks is staying as far away from a razor as he can at the moment.

A lot of people were interested in the studio cats. I couldn't find the others today to show them to you, but I did find their food under Phil's drum set, which if you ask me, is a very strange place for a cat to eat.

Since Brooks is growing a gerbil on his chin, I've decided to start wearing this hat that his mother gave him for Christmas. It doesn't seem to have an affect on his beard but it does make my ears too hot and generally makes me look silly.

Speaking of looking silly, Phil is still recording drums. He's been working hard and getting huge blisters on his hand. I just asked Phil if he had anything to say here on the blog and got this:
"Don't be a menace to South Central... No not really. Well, you can say that if you want to, I don't care."
Words spoken from the heart.

So let me introduce you to Chris, our producer's assistant who has been helping with tracking for the last few days.

ME: "Hey Chris, you ready to be on the internet?"

*CAMERA FLASH*

CHRIS: "Huh? Oh, that's a bright flash."

And there you have it. Internet history.

Sullivantime

Hey guys. We just wanted to give some updates on how the new record is coming along. We are in sunny Orlando Florida with James Paul Wisner. He's the man and taller in person than in pictures.

You guys are seriously going to love
what we are working on and I wish you could all be here. This is the closest you can get sadly because we can't fit you all in this studio. Sorry.

Some updates:
  • Right now we are putting all of our new songs together in rough form. Long nights and hard times have forced Brooks to grow a beard. Please urge him to cut it so I don't have to see it all of the time.
  • Phil is playing drums in his pajamas. That's how he rolls. I thought it better not to include a full body image today.
  • We have several studio cats, only one of which is really into us right now. This one is not the one that likes us. No fear, we'll win them over before we finish the record.

Make sure and check back for more updates soon.

Zach
